Galerie Peter Herrmann
Malam

From November 24th to December 22nd and again from January 11th to February 2nd 2008 Gallery Peter Herrmann presents Malam's installation work. In recent years the Cameroon-based artist has been attracting attention, particularly with his sculptures and huge installations. Using different media he looks into the reality of life in a shocking way. Provoking displays like the crucifix built of packages of pharmaceuticals hanging down from the ceiling often refer directly to social circumstances.

Malam was born in 1967 in Douala/ Cameroon. He lives and works in France.

We cordially invite you and your friends to the opening on Friday, November 23rd 2007 at 8 pm. The artist will be present, as he is creating his installation work especially for our gallery. As a special feature he is bringing a French camera crew along to keep a record of his work.

Recommendation

AFRIKAMERA is a new film festival, which views itself as a platform for current African cinema in the german capital.

In its first edition in early summer 2008, AFRIKAMERA will, for the very first time, bring a selection of movies directly from the largest and most prestigious African film festival, FESPACO, to Berlin. The movies will be accompanied by panel discussions, consisting of highly esteemed film experts from Africa and Europe.

With the Berlin premiere of EZRA (France / Nigeria / Austria 2007) at the Hackesche Höfe Filmtheater on Thursday, November 29 2007 at 7:30pm, AFRIKAMERA will present itself to a larger public for the first time. Guests: Newton I. Aduaka and Prof. Yacouba Konaté

AFRIKAMERA is planned as an annual event and is organized by the Toucouleur e.V. association.

With AFRIKAMERA, Toucouleur e.V. wants to enhance the visibility of current African film production in the German capital and will invite the spectator to dive into the cultural, historical, social, religious and political consciousness of contemporary Africa, as presented by the African directors.
